What happens when you try to make a carpet by stitching rope together? Masks…right?
In a material experiment to see if he could create a large flat carpet by stitching rope together, designer Bertjan Pot hit a creative wall…his samples curved. Just as he was about to give up on this vision, it was suggested to him that he shaped the rope into masks.
He states “The possibilities are endless, I’m meeting new faces every day.”
I adore these masks, and whilst they are playful in terms of colour and form, I feel there’s something rather sinister about them…what do you think?
